Simon Dean OBE, Challenger Troop CIC
Simon’s talk explores why it is so important to engage with and develop character in our youth for the future and also about his work as founder and CEO of Challenger Troop CIC.
Challenger Troop CIC is a community interest company dedicated to helping disadvantaged and disengaged schoolchildren reach their potential through the use of military ethos programmes.

Simon has a wealth of experience gained through working in the Kent Army Cadet Force for the past 36 years. He is committed reaching out and engaging as many disaffected young people as possible.

Challenger Troop’s multi award winning programme has a proven track record of turning young peoples lives around. Simon's teams of ex service men and women work both in partnership with schools and with community groups, in order to empower more young people to take responsibility, in still essential life skills and take more responsibility for their own lives and futures prospects.

Simon has also personally been recognised for his work, receiving The Lord Lieutenants Meritorious Awards and Invested as an Officer of the British Empire in December 2016.

He is married with and two children and is still maintains an active interest in the content of the programmes and the progress of youngsters from the start of each course right though to its finish.
