Motivation and Mental Health
Dame Kelly Holmes
Double gold Olympic champion and local businesswoman Dame Kelly Holmes will be sharing her experience with motivation and mental health in this not to be missed expert talk.

Speaking about the forthcoming talk Dame Kelly said, “I am looking forward to sharing my experiences at Health and Wellbeing Live. Looking back, I wonder why I kept my feelings secret for so long. Truth is, the stigma attached to mental health 12 years ago was a massive barrier for me. So I kept quiet: held it in and hid my mental health problems.

More and more people, including children, are going through personal turmoil, many still in silence for fear of the stigma associated with mental health. We must break the silence and shed that stigma once and for all.

Health and Wellbeing Live will be a fantastic forum for people to speak about and share experiences of mental and physical health and wellbeing. It is so important for us to embrace this opportunity and I hope by sharing my experiences, I can help someone else who may be going through something similar.”

Since her Olympic glory Dame Kelly opened Cafe 1809 in her hometown of Hildenborough in December 2014, and opened a sister branch, Cafe 1809 Active, at the Cyclopark in Gravesend in June this year. The name of the café represents Dame Kelly’s Olympic running number when she won double gold in Athens in 2004. Cafe 1809  will also be at the show serving delicious snacks and drinks.
